Trained by the UK's professional body for Editors and Proofreaders (CIEP) in Fiction Editing and Copy-Editing.

So why should you trust me with your book baby anyway? That’s such a smart question. You’re a really smart person. Flattery not enough, huh? Guess you want to see some credentials? Fair enough.

First of all, I’m a writer, just like you (probably). My work has appeared in local anthologies, and in national magazines such as Writing Magazine and Kindred Spirit Magazine. I have also published a non-fiction ebook, three full-length epic fantasy novels, a collection of short stories, and a novella. While studying for my BA in Philosophy and Classics, I took a creative writing course in conjunction with my degree, and I have recently completed a Creative Writing Masters. Therefore, I have many years of experience honing my understanding of the English language (I can never say that without thinking of Shakespeare) and working with creative professionals, including editors. So I know what it is like when someone is pulling apart your pet project.

In addition to this, I was a sub-editor for five newspapers in my home county of Devon before moving full-time into freelance writing and copywriting. In the past, I worked for Proofessor – a company who specialise in perfecting essays and dissertations for foreign language students. That means I’m pretty good at technical jargon and complicated subjects too. I have also volunteered as an editor and proofreader for charity anthologies, and as a beta reader for indie authors.

I particularly specialise in fantasy (from urban to epic), YA, and NA fiction, but I’m well versed in all genres and conventions. For non-fiction, I have a strong knowledge of online business and marketing, philosophy, psychology, health and nutrition, parenting, and self-improvement (I actually hold diplomas in nutritional therapy and life coaching too).

If you’re in any doubt, don’t hesitate to order your no-obligation sample edit. Samples cost £20, which is taken off the project fee if you choose to go ahead. Just email me at inkyfeatherediting@gmail.com.

Don't forget to check out my testimonials page :).

“This was the first time I have shown anyone my work and Sofia didn’t make me doubt doing so. The advice and comments that she has made on my work have been a huge help and have enabled me to move ahead with my project.” Kelly Thomas
